WHAT WE DO
We meet both immediate needs and deeper, long-term realities — because we don't believe in one time moments of support, but in sustainable transformation.
Through intentional programs, curated experiences, and resource driven initiatives, we create spaces where young people feel seen, valued, and empowered to envision a future beyond their circumstances. From back to school events and holiday activations to mentorship, mental health advocacy, and scholarships — we show up where and when it matters most.
Letter from the Founder
I became passionate about raising awareness and advocating for children in foster care in 2007 shortly after my husband and I began our foster-to-adopt journey with our daughter. While repeatedly explaining the realities of foster care with those in my circle, I became keenly aware – even as a third generation foster/adoptive mom – just how little I truly knew about the system and the profound challenges faced by the children within it.
Compelled to look deeper, I began researching the long-term outcomes of foster care and was confronted with sobering statistics. Far too many former foster youth face homelessness, incarceration, exploitation, or trafficking. Moved by these realities, my family and I felt led to respond by seeking tangible ways to restore hope, dignity, and a little bit of magic to the lives of children whose stories have been so horrifically impacted by foster care.
In December of 2018, I leveraged my Wild & Whimsy clothing brand as a catalyst to launch the first initiative of the Wild & Whimsy Foundation. Our mission was clear: to empower children and teens in foster care through meaningful resources, life giving opportunities, and magical experiences – while also providing intentional support to the resource families who open their homes and lives to the children we serve.
Today, the Wild & Whimsy Foundation encompasses several initiatives and mobilizes a passionate, multifaceted coalition, called the Brave Hearts Society – together, we are committed to creating a lasting legacy of change within the foster care system. I’d be honored to have you join us.
